Mr. Bruce Mullan/Editor of the Uniting Church-Journey Newspaper recently wrote a small piece referring to dress code, uniforms and priestly frocks with ruffle sleeves and white stockings and 'his' opinion can not be backed with bible verse so how could he expect honest people to believe it is acceptable before or to God.

The vestments with ruffle sleeves and white stockings would probably make a large impression upon the Gay side of the Uniting Church membership and clergy but surely could never change the sin life of but one-hell-bound-soul.....click.

Our scripture above certainly shines a whole lot of light on dress code, white stockings and expensive frocks, not to forget the black or white patent shoes.

Actually I can't find one line in the New Testament Message where Christ or any true minister of the Christ demonstrated exclusive attire for particular church positions, can you?.....Jesus dressed no different than the other disciples.

Bruce reminisced on his very 'Presbyterian Upbringing' and the clothing arrangement of the Presbyterians of that time and basically said that it struck an awe into his little heart to view such clobber. But, I wonder if he wasn't just viewing a mix of Presbyterian and Masonic Lodge costume, given that most Presbyterians of that time were nearly all 'tied' up with the Masons (Masonic Lodge),  I wonder?.......click.

Just for the records , we at JTCM have a dress code and it goes like this.....Clean, Tidy and Non-Revealing....we believe simple and scriptural, something a fifth grader could grasp, wouldn't you agree?.....1 Peter 3:1-6, 1 Timothy 2:9.

Getting back to the clerical attire, Mr. Mullan says that historical, visible, distinguished dress would make 'church' and its clergy more visible in the communities and at the same time more acceptable to the peoples....click.

Did not God/Jesus say that his peoples were to build, minister, preach and teach by his spirit, holy spirit and not by eye service? Jesus also said that the religious hypocrites were the ones who put up a showing in the flesh and did adorn themselves with all kinds of splendor and showy garb (white washed tombs) but their hearts were black as pitch. Those who have an 'ear' let them 'hear'.

St. Paul a true apostle of God/Yahweh was by no means a white stockinged - ruffled sleeve minister who was deluded by the expressions of an ill informed child. I have to say that what I see and call a wondrous sight is to read of the likes of Messiah, St. Paul, St. Peter and all the saints at Smyrna without such frilly visibles but producing far more (in the spirit and for Christ's kingdom) than any man or woman of the Frilliest form. Sobriety is a wonderful place especially when it is what God/Jesus calls sobriety. Sobriety comes through the honesty, truth and humility that scripture/established bible canon provides for all doers of the Word. To do the Word of God is to make Jesus the Christ preeminent to all in your life....click.

Maybe Bruce could do a little new testament, book of Acts search regarding his recommendation of hierarchy dress while on leave, seeing he is about to take a little holiday. And let's hope that Mardi, Phil and Osker his stand-ins speak as the oracles of God. Amen.
