VISION OR AMBITION?

When we read Philippians 1:12-18, we find that Paul was happy that the gospel went out even though the motivation behind the people that took it wasn't the best, he rejoiced that it went forward anyway.

When St Paul came on the scene in Rome there were changes made by his holy ghost ministry. Whether jealousy, conviction, pride or just plain ambition the evangelistic thrust was increased, raised and so be it, let God be praised.

As I look at todays church world it becomes increasingly evident that ambition is high on the list of achievements for most professing christians. Even though Lord Jesus prophesied that many will come who have achieved much and say Lord, Lord .. He shall reply go away. Many have mistaken ambition for vision.

If professing christians and professing church leaders would have a vision of death to self, I believe that more would be achieved for His kingdom than ever before in church history. Instead, we have men and women forever trying to suggest to congregations that God said!.. God said!.. God said!.. and He did nothing of a sort. Its just selfish ambition, visions of grandeur, which is the first sign of madness. It is interesting to see the vast difference between the words ambition and vision.

Ambition means desire for power, fame or honour and vision means, talks about the development process or the development of the kingdom of God.

We would be foolish to say that this is achieved, the development of Gods kingdom .. by the building of buildings. For example lets look at the roman catholic system, the mormons, jehovah witnesses, the muslims, all of these are ardent believers of building buildings for God, yet all is in vain. Hence we see that Gods kingdom is not increased by the building of earthly tabernacles.

You can not keep the people in the buildings but God may dwell in the people forever.. amen?

A vision is that which is presented to the mind by way of dream or revelation: whether it be by God or satan the god of this world.. 2 Corinthians 4:4.

I will dare say that nothing less than 95% of so called visions spoken about in churches today would be of the .. selfish ambition realm, the tower of babel realm and God Almighty will bring confusion on it all in His time. I have a favourite saying that I use on the street when I crusade, which is .. you can avoid the preacher but you can't avoid the judgement day.This is reality, not a threat, a frightening reality if we have ignored our maker.

Question!..Is the word .. street preacher .. found in the holy bible or is it a quote from ignoramuses? True preachers can preach anywhere at anytime and see results .. amen
