A bed, a table, a
chair and a lampstand.. this was the consistency of the preparation made for the prophet
Elisha.
A far cry from what most run of the mill ministers require before they will dare leave
their creature comforts of the 21st century. What more would a true prophet need anyway?..
aren't prophets supposed to be spiritual men who have by the grace of God and the power of
His Spirit been mortified to the things of this world and its demands???.. Proverbs
23:1-3.
As I read this verse I considered what kinds of desires would be left in a man that the
almighty God of heaven and earth has dealt with (recall Prince Moses) in order to use him as a spokesman and
guide for people. And my conclusion was .. only Godly desires... Job 23:12...
Psalm 119:65-72.
What I mean by Godly desires is.. out of this world or heavenly. If that sounds a little
too demanding or even radical think again ....Paul the apostle said for all to take on
this attitude, how much more a prophet........Philippians 3:8, selah.
SET YOUR MIND ON THINGS ABOVE ..... NOT ON THINGS OF THE EARTH ........
.....................COLOSSIANS 3:2
Do you notice that the notable woman and her husband in Shunem asked if they could do this
for the prophet, Elisha was not expecting anything, it also says they had to persuade
Elisha to even eat food... verse 8.
This tells us something of the prophet, he was no prosperity preacher, I believe that any
man calling himself a prophet or woman calling herself a prophetess and their belly aching
about money at every meet, they are false fullstop.
The great prophet said this, His name is Jesus... John 4:34.
MY FOOD IS TO DO THE WILL OF HIM WHO SENT ME AND TO FINISH HIS WORK.
Jesus also said .. I have food to eat of which you do not know .. John 4:32,
the issue is this, whether food, clothing, housing, acceptance or no acceptance the
prophet has a message and that is what matters nothing else. John the Baptist had the
leane quisine of grasshoppers and honeycomb to look forward to after he proclaimed his
message for the day.. very interesting.
The prophet and the people of God should all be laboring for the food that leadeth to
eternal life.. but sad to say, we have in the churches today a gathering of people who
rely on and are even governed by carnal passions to their own detriment. Pulpit promotions
are the reason for most of the (World loving) in congregations today .. men who have been
placed in pulpits through brain power and not Gods power/holy ghost. And if it ain't that
they found themselves there by tradition not submission to God. How many real prophets do
we have in Australia? We certainly have many (so called) prophets making
a profit $$$$.
Amen.
